I have a limited knowledge of makeup, but I really like it

A couple of weeks ago a friend told me I should film a makeup tutorial, but I lack both equipment and skill to do that. Instead, I thought I could share a Pinterest board of all the products I use (or have used) and what I like about them.

And here are the real MVPs:

I’ve been using the Clinique 3-Step System for combination oily skin (dry combination formula is wayyyy too heavy for my skin) for a little over a year. I love the moisturizer and toner, but I’ve switched out the cleanser for Purpose Gentle Cleansing Wash.  The Purpose formula is very gentle, and I think it works just as well as Clinique at a fraction of the price.

I started getting acne when I was 17, and this has been the first year since that my skin has been in good condition (HUGE THANK-YOU TO MY DERMATOLOGIST, but that’s another story for another day). Because of this, I’m selective when it comes to anything that touches my skin, but this system works really well for me.

Even though I have oily skin, it gets severely dry in the winter. This year was especially bad when the temperature dropped. I started using this Mario Badescu facial spray, and it has been a lifesaver in the month that I’ve had it. I use it pretty heavily after washing and moisturizing my face. I think it’s also worked like a primer because my makeup has looked a lot better over it. Also, this scent is so much better than the rose version. Trust me.

I swear this lip balm is the best (as well as the OG Burt’s Bees beeswax balm).

I don’t know if this makeup is actually any better than non-acne solutions makeup, but I like it well enough. I feel like it has good coverage, and it never feels cakey. It costs more than drugstore makeup, but I also think it lasts longer and is better for your skin.

This Tarte blush is so pretty! I’m not a big fan of most blushes because I feel like they sit on top of my foundation or they have sparkles (ew). I use this in the shade “risqué.” This one blends in really well, and it’s definitely worth paying a little extra for. Also, it’s vegan if you’re into that kind of thing.

I bought this shade for my grandma on her birthday, and she approves of it too!

Lastly, this eyeshadow palette is incredible. I had previously been using the Urban Decay Naked2 Basics palette, and didn’t really understand why it was so hyped. However, this one is gorgeous and the colors are very pigmented. I saved up points at Ulta for this Tarte eyeshadow, and I would buy it again without a doubt.

So that’s what goes on my face. Any recommendations?
